Lightroom Mobile did not have a feature similar to virtual copies that you can find in Lightroom for Desktop. Using this feature, you could create copies of a photo and try different edits. With the latest Update of Lightroom Mobile, Adobe added a similar - and in my humble opinion- cool feature to Lightroom Mobile, and that's called versions.
How Versions work in Lightroom Mobile
Using the versions feature, you can create a new version during your editing process - similar to a virtual copy. Lightroom will retain this version while you continue to try other edits. During your editing, you can revert to a saved version if you don't like the current edit.
As I've mentioned, this feature is excellent if you want to try different edits in Lightroom Mobile. So let's have a look at how this feature works. I'm using a photo of a lost place from a hike today to demonstrate it.
Where to find versions in Lightroom Mobile
To access the new versions feature in Lightroom Mobile, open any photo for editing and make sure Edit is selected in the upper left corner. Once you've applied a few adjustments, swipe the toolbar at the bottom of the screen to the left until you see the versions icon. It's almost at the end of the toolbar.

How to use Versions in Lightroom Mobile
At the bottom, you'll see two thumbnails. The right-most thumbnail is the original, unedited version. Then, there's a vertical line, and to the left of the vertical line is the currently edited version.

Now tap the blue Create Version button at the top of the screen. A dialog will appear, asking you for a name for the new version. I used the not very creative name Next Edit

This will save the current edit that you see on the left as a new version under the name you've entered.

Now continue to edit your photo differently. For this example, I've converted the photo to black and white in Lightroom. Now, if you go back to versions, you'll see that the right-most thumbnail represents the current (black and white) edit while the previous version is still available under the meaningful name Next edit

If you're not satisfied with your edits, you can revert to any saved versions anytime. To do so, tap the Versions icon in the lower toolbar again and tap any of the named version that you previously created. Next, tap the Apply button in the upper right corner.

Now this version will become the current version, and you can continue to edit it. Be careful; if you haven't saved the current edit as a version, it will be overwritten by the version you selected.
Finally, if you tap the three dots next to the Apply button, you'll get a menu at the bottom of the screen from which you can choose to rename the version or to delete it.
Do Versions Sync between iPhone and iPad?
The short answer is yes — the versions sync between Lightroom Mobile on iPhone and Lightroom Mobile on iPad. I didn't check if they also sync between the desktop version of Lightroom, as I don't use it.
Conclusion
I genuinely like the Versions feature in Lightroom Mobile. Previously, If I tried a different edit, I had to copy all the adjustments to the clipboard and paste them back if I didn't like the current edit.
With versions, that's so much easier. Just create a version anytime during the editing process, and you can revert to a previous version anytime.
It also looks like that this feature is not a Lightroom Mobile Premium feature so that anyone can use it.
