Hi gang.
I run a middling candy review website, so taking close up photos of the candies and then removing the backgrounds is a very common thing for me to do.
My question is primarily about white balance. Generally speaking, when I take the candy photos in the light box, the background in the photo appears grey as opposed to white which it certainly is. Additionally on those photos, I just don’t think the detail is great.
Having said that, every so often I’ll snap one of these photos and it’s perfect: the whites are white, the color definition on the candy is perfect. But then literally the next photo (admittedly, usually of something else, so not the exact same content) will be back to the grey background.
Does anyone have any idea why this happening, and more usefully, a fix to ensure I get that proper white balance? I’m using an iPhone 8+.
Thanks!
